why are there no shield upgrades? - Guild Wars Forums

No that im switching back to an axe warrior, im trying to find a good summit warlord shield. But this are rare and often dnt have good upgrades. But because there are no shield upgrades i have to settle on shields with upgrades i dont really want. why dont they just ad shield upigrades to the game?

I disagree with Mugon. A shield sould have many parts. There's the strap, the shield itself, the standard in the middle of the shield (ex. the middle of the shield of the wing has the wings), you could even have spikes coming out the front or add a fancy and/or sharp edge to it.

It's just one more way to keep PvE characters out of PvP.

well for the moment, shields are only made of 1 part
the wings are just decorations, there are no offensive shields and I don't see how the strap could add any bonus

of course we are in a game with magics, therefore we could add just any mod to anything...

arent shields defensive?

i was thinking of this too but it would be wierd to see how the system would be implemented

If you watch Beet the Vandel Buster, you'll see an offensive shield.

Isn't a strap a type of grip? And there are bow grips of defense. Why not a Shield Grip of Defense? A mod to add to the latent defense of a shield.

The shield could absorb damage as well, or maybe when an enemy strikes it, it causes elemental damage.

There are many possible mods for a shield.

Wow, here I am wishing that I could upgrade my max armor magmas shield with an absorbsion and health upgrade, and energy upgrade, or maybe a 20% axe mastery. From what I have seen, the max upgrades available are two and I would want to aplly them to a shield, but it would seem some people would want a shield to do damage.

Damage is up to the weapon. Shields are for defence. As muchas I would like a strength based whield that gives +12 energy, +2 energy regen, and does damage back to the damage dealer, when struck, that is absurd. THen you will see nothing but W/? all over the game and noone will play any other class, for fear of being clobbered by an elementalist with warrior armor and elementalist energy.

Now how about upgrading my ever so sexy Magmas Shield with some upgrades that will make me want to equip it?
